Company Registration

This is governed by Companies Act and the registration is done by Registrar of Companies (ROC), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. The pre-requisite for registering a company is to have directors who will run the company and they need to be registered for this you need the following –

  • Director Identification Number (DIN)
  • Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

A company may be registered as –

  • Public Limited Company
  • Private Limited Company
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
  • One Person Company (OPC)
  • Not for Profit (NGO / NPO)

NGO Registration

An organization whose mandate is not for profit is generally called an NGO ( Non Government Organization) These organizations work for public good, they may be charitable organizations. You can register an NGO under any of the following heads –

  • Not for Profit (NGO / NPO), Such organizations are governed by Companies Act
  • Society, such organizations are governed by Societies Registration Act.
  • Trust – Governed by the Indian Trusts Act or Bombay Public Trusts Act
