Share something from your Corporate Career

While working at British Airways for around four years I learnt how to co- exist, along with valuable ethics, diligence, hard work and team work that help me run my own company successfully.

What was the inspiration for you start your own business?

I always had a fascination with aesthetics and beauty. Even as a young girl of 10 I’d make ornaments and accessories with flowers, leaves, paper and anything which would catch my attention. Usually giving them away as gifts to my parents and sisters. I would put together collection of flora and fauna, and would go around the house decorating and beautifying every corner. After my brief career in the corporate world I realised that it’s time to embark on a new journey which will bring me closer to my calling, after which I founded Latique. For designing Latique’s jewellery collections I went back to my childhood. The passion and love with which I used to make beautiful ornaments and installations with flowers and papers I used the same energy to create jewellery.

What have been some of your achievements in the professional life?

  • Exported Indian jewellery abroad since 1995 – USA, Middle East (Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain), Europe (London, Germany, Florence)
  • Supported NGO’s like Goonj, Savera foundation, Ritinjali, Mobile Creches.
  • Exhibited luxury jewelry at fashion shows with designers such as Meera and Muzzafar Ali, Lickouture in addition to many other collaborations.
  • Founded Latique designs.
  • Invited as jury member and speaker for national events like “Jewellers Choice Design awards” and “Retail Jeweller India Forum” amongst others.

The difference you have made to others

In my 20’s I had my first encounter with the pleasure of gratitude by helping someone in need. I realised the true purpose of my life, which is to add value to someone’s life. I have revived the art form itself, by helping the talented craftsmen, paying them their due and nurturing their heritage. Throughout my journey I have helped artisans grow, learn, communicate better and it makes me a better human being that many of them are successful today.

What do you want to be acknowledged for

I want to be acknowledged for contributing to this art form and the artisans.
