Hi Kiran, Please tell us something about yourself
I am Kiran Chugh. I am a housewife, a mother, a professional home baker and most importantly an enthusiast. I was born and brought up in Panipat with all my education being done from my hometown. I got married in Mathura and since then I have been living here. As I mentioned earlier I have always been an enthusiast, so learning new things, developing new hobbies has always been my thing. Be it learning how to weave, drive, write poems and so on.
Share more about your business
I am a professional home baker, own a business venture ‘Bake House By Kiran’ and have been in this business for more than 2 years now. Well as I already mentioned I have always been keen on learning new things and developing new interests. Like any other Indian loving mother who always looks to cook something special for their children. When I saw that my kids were a big fan of bakery products, I thought of giving my hand into it. I started baking basic dry cakes for them. Luckily enough they picked up the taste and even motivated me to learn more. I realised I really like baking cakes. It was like suddenly I knew what I have been made for and transferred my hobby to a potential business idea. So, I started with a crash course in Mathura and started baking cakes for customers. From then on I have never looked back. I try to enhance my knowledge by taking new courses time and again. My idea is to provide healthy, fresh, unadulterated, high-quality cakes to everyone. I hope I continue to grow over the years.
What was the inspiration for you start your own business?
It started off as a hobby to bake a fresh cake for my kids. So that they don’t eat out. I started getting good reviews from my kids and relatives. This gave me a direction to work on. I didn’t know what was going to happen next, but I really enjoyed baking cakes. The sole inspiration is my family who not just inspired me to move further but always supported me throughout my journey. It gave me a sense of satisfaction, the kind of feeling that I am not working even when I am working. This gave me the idea to pursue it further. From then on I have been taking up courses and brushing up my skills and baking cakes for customers.
What have been some of your achievements in your professional life?
Achievement for any person in this world comes from their customers. My biggest achievement as I would say is my loyal customers. It gives me the confidence to expand my business. In my case, repetitive orders from customers and reviews like, “Ab mein Hamesha Aap se hi Cake lunga” and orders from Agra would be my few biggest achievements.
The difference you have made to others
It is not easy to start anything at the age of 50, even when you’ve always been a housewife. So my attitude to always look for something new made me a person I am today. I could motivate females around me to build something I could at this age. So I have made a difference in the lives of such housewives who want to pursue something in life but so far can’t.
What do you want to be acknowledged for
I want to be acknowledged for the determination and courage I have shown in my whole life.
