As a child, I was a shy and introvert girl, who wanted to enroll for the various speech and debating programs held in school, but never had the courage to do so. I would gawk at my peers and was always a part of the audience. I had the fear of not being good enough and what people would think of me. Unfortunately, I did not share my feelings with anyone and therefore, no one was there , to hold my hand and take me up there, which buried my desire of public speaking.
Years later, when I became a proud parent, I was upset with the pre-schooling of my child. Being a small town, the importance of preschools were ignored and that was when I decided to create that learning environment for the children of our society. To create awareness of the importance of a strong foundation, in order to build a strong personality.
However, that was the beginning of a new ME. As I dived into the educational field, I was accepted and embraced with respect and appreciation.
Two years back, Toastmasters International, an organization which builds your communication and leadership skills, came into our city. I became a part to it to fulfil my childhood desire of public speaking.
To my surprise, I loved being on stage and I won many accolades in the very first year.
That inspired me to work with many more Shradhas like me, who wanted to ,but didn’t have the courage to speak up. Therefore The Banyan Tree Institute
was founded, to hold hands and break the shell of hesitation of our children so that they can emerge as confident beings.
